Childbirth Education

Understanding your body’s wisdom and preparing yourself and your partner for birth.

Pregnancy,

is often exciting and can also make you feel nervous and overwhelmed! However, with proper guidance, education, and support, those feelings can be relieved.

How does childbirth education benefit you?

It offers you and your partner tools, knowledge, and support skills for taking care of yourself and your child as you prepare to give “birth-in-awareness.” In addition, it can help you build your confidence in your body’s ability to give birth and, therefore, minimize your fears and anxiety from not knowing what to expect once labor begin.

What will you learn about:

  • Stages of labor: early labor, active labor, the birth of your baby, and the birth of your placenta.
  • How your body will change as your pregnancy progresses.
  • How to take care of yourself and your baby during pregnancy. We will discuss the importance of adding good nutrition and exercise into your lifestyle.
  • How to prepare yourself for a safe and smooth delivery.
  • Create a birth plan where you can write down your birth preferences. By doing this, you will learn about what may happen if you have complications during labor. And, if you need medical intervention outside of your birth plan, you should know what that entails.
  • Open discussion about the available options for coping with pain during labor. This includes massage, breathing, relaxation techniques, and the pros and cons of different methods, including pain medications.
  • Freeing yourself from needing to achieve a specific birth outcome.

Helping you understand that childbirth is a profound rite of passage is my way of offering a more holistic approach to the process. I will provide you with research-based information, guide and prepare you to navigate this new multilayered self-discovery and at the same time, support your birth as a normal, natural, and healthy life event to empower you and your partner to make informed decisions. In addition, childbirth education can help you gain confidence, which often results in better birth outcomes.
